![]() What is the current status of the game? Do you expect to release it soon? I’ll post most of our updates to Kickstarter. Where could people find you in order to learn more about Siralim Ultimate and keep up with future updates? Honestly, I don’t feel pressured at all to deliver so much extra content – the Siralim games are known for having a ridiculous amount of content, so I knew I’d need to put in this much work one way or another. I’ve been planning the stretch goals for a long time to ensure that I wouldn’t need to come up with something at the last minute. Are you anxious of having to deliver so many extra features or were all of these already planned for beforehand? There is a running Kickstarter campaign for the game that has been funded, along with several stretch goals already. With over 1000 different creatures to choose from, it’s very unlikely that you’ll ever meet another player using the same exact team of creatures. The offspring has a unique color palette, inherits the traits from both of its parents, and takes the average of its parents’ stat spread. When you fuse two creatures together, the outcome is something totally unique that you can’t get by fusing any other two creatures together. How do your systems differ from those in said games, if at all? The monster collection and fusion brings to mind classic Japanese titles like Pokemon and Shin Megami Tensei. I’ve also learned a lot from some design mistakes I made in the previous games, and for that reason, Siralim Ultimate truly takes the series to a whole new level. It’s the game I’ve always wanted to make since I started my game development journey, but I never had the resources and funding to do everything I wanted to do until now. Siralim Ultimate will be the final game in the series. Where does Ultimate fit in the series?Įach game in the series has gotten progressively better than the last in terms of graphics, sound/music design, and gameplay. There are already three Siralim titles out there. There aren’t really any rules when it comes to deciding what sort of content fits into the game, and I think that helps to keep things interesting. For the most part, Rodia is a medieval world, but there are some touches of other eras sprinkled in as well such as Eternity’s End, which takes place in outer space. The Siralim games take place in a world called Rodia. You are left with no choice but to wage war on Nex and take back the Ultimate Nether Orb so that it will not be used for ill purposes. Worse yet, Andrick intends to manipulate the gods to aid him in conquering Siralim. But as we all know, power can corrupt even the most virtuous of souls.Īs the ruler of Siralim, you just received word that King Andrick of Nex has obtained the Ultimate Nether Orb – a powerful relic that can be used to control the gods themselves. Together, the two kingdoms have grown to become the most powerful in the world. I’m honestly not sure players will see everything there is to see even at the 5000-hour mark.Ĭan you tell me a bit more about the story of the game and the world behind it?įor the last century, the kingdoms of Nex and Siralim have enjoyed a prosperous alliance fueled by generous trade, unbiased distribution of territory, and a common goal to make the lands of Rodia safe for its inhabitants. A big part of that is thanks to our backers, of course. The Siralim games have always been huge in terms of content, but Siralim Ultimate is just… stupidly big. I also wanted to create a game that is truly massive. Siralim Ultimate’s graphics are the best in the series by far, and its UI has been almost completely overhauled to make it not only easier to use, but also more informative. One of the biggest weaknesses of the series was its lower-end graphics and a clumsy user interface. Simply put, I wanted to make an even better version of Siralim 3. What inspired you to start working on Siralim Ultimate? We talked with the dev behind the project, Zack Bertok, about this interesting project. One of those games is the upcoming game Siralim Ultimate. There are several games over the years where you collect (and perhaps fuse) minions and have them as a team. For that reason, this store description is extremely detailed to help you get a grip on exactly what you can expect from the game.Official links: Website / Discord / Twitter / Kickstarter / Youtube / Steam Siralim Ultimate is a really, really, really big game. More information emerges over time, as Apple, Adobe, and other software developers test with the final public release and produce updates with fixes. We are just starting to see Monterey compatibility information from Adobe, which I cover later in this article. In the interim, I found a workaround which I offered here for those like me for whom the current fix does not work. With the release of macOS 12 Monterey, you’re probably wondering if your Adobe software will work in this macOS upgrade. It will get it figured out for the remainder. To be more specific, the problem I had was that the installer erased my Encore CS 5.1 content and gave me an Encore CS6 "library" with only a tiny fraction of the content that is supposed to be there.Īdobe already has figured this out with solutions that work for many users. I tried both the Akmai and the alternative download of the content installers.įollowing the instructions gave me: (a) PPro content which is the title templates that are usable even though the selection menus have problems displaying correctly and (b) an Encore CS 6 "Library" folder whose content was nothing more that a few menu template from the "general" category and none of the rest of the content. I did this several times, which included erasing the original content download and re-downloading it from the Adobe site as instructed. I followed the instructions in that link for ESD. Note also that these instructions are for those whose install did not create a "Library" sub-folder in the Encore CS 6 folder under "Program Files/Adobe CS6." These instructions seem to work for some, but not all, ESD copies of CS6. The second section of the instructions is for those with ESD (downloaded) copies. ![]() These instructions seem to work for the Creative Cloud folks. One set is the instructions for those having disk-delivered copies of CS5 (and maybe CS 5.5?) or Creative Cloud subscriptions (presumably for CS6). Note that the linked Adobe help file has two separate sets of instructions. That probably made my description unclear. Sorry about giving incorrect link in my first post. Yes, that's the Adobe link I meant to use in my first post. I do not work on with Macs, so I do not know what the process would be for those systems, but I would guess it will be similar. The top line is "Library Content." Browse to or type the path: "C:/ProgramFiles/Adobe/AdobeEncoreCS6/Library." You should now have access to the Encore menus, buttons, styles, etc. Find the folders labeled "Library" and "templates." Copy them to the folder "ProgramFiles/Adobe/AdobeEncoreCS6." If asked to overwrite "library," do it.Ĥ. Open Windows Explorer and navigate to ProgramFiles(x86)/Adobe/AdobeEncoreCS5.1. Then navigate as above, double click on Setup.exe and install the Encore 5.1 content.)ģ. Double click on the "EXE file to extract the contents into a folder. You'll get two files: a compressed archive that ends in "LZ7" and an "EXE" extractor file. For those with electronic downloads of 5.5, these will be in a folder called "Premiere Pro Family Content Installers." The subfolder is called "Adobe Encore CS 5.1 Functional Content." Double click on "Setup.exe." (If you can't find this file, you will have to go log back on to your account at Adobe and re-download the Content. Do it from the Control Panel, Uninstall Program.Ģ. So, here is what worked for me under Win 7.ġ. I am in the middle of a couple of projects and needed to get a workaround. ![]() ![]() (I know that it was Encore 5.1 that came with CS 5.5, but let's just refer to the suite for the sake of this discussion, okay?).Īpparently, it will be a few days before Adobe will be able to sort this out. Worse, it completely trashed all the library and content files for Encore CS 5.5. The CS 6 installer for Encore content gave me only about 8 general menus and nothing else. It was a different story with Encore content. (There are some problems with display but it does work for me.) In my case, the PPro CS6 content (title templates) installed and more or less work. Adobe has posted instructions that are supposed to fix the problem.Īpparently, the instructions work for the Creative Cloud subscribers but not for for those who got their CS6 upgrade via ESD (i.e., download.) There is a long thread in the user forums at Adobe.Īdobe Forums: Encore CS6 Missing Library Files Update This problem is affecting both Mac and PC versions. I used a depth of 0 because I have nothing else drawing in the scene, so it doesn’t matter at what depth my particles draw. Part_system_depth(global.partsys_fire,0) Add the following code to your script: global.partsys_fire = part_system_create() This is also a great time to set the depth of the system (the draw depth for any particles drawn inside the system), so we’ll do that too. The first thing we should do is create the particle system in which the fire particles will exist. Additionally, I like to load particle systems in a script which runs once at the game start.Ĭreate a new script, name it “ init_particles“, and let’s write some GML! Doing this allows me to easily access them from any object or script in the game that needs them. Your game programming philosophies may differ from mine, but I like to make all my particle effects global. It doesn’t look much like fire yet, but once we add some code, things will take shape quickly. Close the Sprite Properties window (make sure you press the ‘OK’ button, and not the red ‘X’!). You can offset the origin of your sprites for some interesting effects, but for this effect we want the particles to rotate from the center, so we’ll stick with that. You can see what my resource tree looks like below.Ĭlick the ‘Load Sprite’ button and select all of your particle images to add them to a single sprite. If you created your sprites in GameMaker: Studio itself, you won’t need to do this step.Ĭlick the ‘Center’ button to center the origin to 32, 32. You can name your resources however you want, but it’ll be easier to follow the rest of the example if you use the same names as I have. If you haven’t already, launch GameMaker, create a new sprite, and name it “ spr_fire“. When you’re done, save all your images as separate documents and let’s move on to GameMaker! Step 2: Import and set up the fire particle sprite I definitely recommend trying out some different particle shapes so your effect fits the rest of the graphics in your game. You can do whatever you like here, depending on how you want the fire effect to look. Make sure that no part of your drawings come up against the edge of your document, as this can be noticeable in the final effect.įor my particles, I started with a basic airbrush/pencil drawing, and then applied distortion with the wave, ripple, and twirl filters. The end result should be a variety of different images (I’ve done 7) which vary in shape, sharpness, and contrast. Draw your particles out by doodling squiggly lines and using filters, as needed, to distort them. Fill the background with black, set the draw color to white, and get out your drawing tool of choice. You don’t need anything fancy to create particles for a nice fire effect.Īnyway, open up your graphics program and create a new 64×64 px document. I’m using Photoshop to create images, but if you don’t have Photoshop, you can use GIMP, MSPaint, or GameMaker: Studio’s built-in sprite editor. Even with relatively small images, we can create a nice effect that doesn’t suffer from a patterned look that the built-in particle shapes will create. I’ve always found it easier to use a series of randomized images for particle effects like this. Step 1: Creating particle images for the flamesįirst, we’ll need images for our fire particles. All that can happen with a handful of small images, a simple setup script, and a test object/test room, so let’s get started. At the end, we’ll add a second particle for rising sparks/cinders to make things more visually interesting, but it won’t vary too much from the basic fire particle. We have the particle vary a bit in its trajectory, speed, and rotation, and add a blending effect to give it brightness. ![]() Overviewįire effects aren’t too hard to create in GameMaker: Studio. For a basic effect, all you need is one particle type that travels up (or outward, depending on the intended viewing angle) and changes color along the way. ![]() I’ve tried to supplement all the words with a few pictures, where appropriate. I’ve written this as a complete introduction to creating particles in GameMaker: Studio with GML, so it may be a bit wordy. The particle system in GameMaker: Studio is powerful, but when you’re first starting out, it can be a bit confusing, especially for those who have little experience in visual effects. To help people better understand how to utilize particles and create more visually stunning games, I have created this start-to-finish example for creating a realistic fire effect. ![]() It offers a convenient same-day collection service and your old furniture will be recycled, reused or donated to charity.
